This is a blog created to do the daunting task of covering virtually every topic of military history, along with other topics (mostly analyzing young adult series or criminal cases) that appear in the author's mind. I will also cover other academic topics occasionally.

AFDL's Conquest of Zarie
Disgraced rebel leader Laurent Kabila's (Kabila 1st attempt at insurgency in the Congo Crisis of the 60s with the backing of Che Guevara was a failure. Guevara even described Kabila as "he lacked revolutionary seriousness") Alliance of Democratic Force for the Liberation of the Congo (AFDL), with the backing of Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda, starts it's insurgency against Mobutu's 30 year regime in Zarie. In a murderous rampage, the AFDL kills 60,000 people and quickly conquers all of Zarie. Once the corrupt Mobutu regime had fallen and the AFDL is in control, Kabila renames the country the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and he double-crosses all of his backers in Rwanda, Burundi, and Uganda. His enraged former backers then in retaliation create rebel groups against Kabila's regime, thus starting the 2nd Congo War (which I will discuss in a future post).
