This is a blog created to do the daunting task of covering virtually every topic of military history, along with other topics (mostly analyzing young adult series or criminal cases) that appear in the author's mind. I will also cover other academic topics occasionally.

MEND's Insurgency in the Niger Delta
The insurgency of Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) was directed against the foreign oil industries in Nigeria. MEND is not as famous as its counterpart Boko Haram, most likely because of its tactics and goals are not as sensational as Boko Haram. MEND often abducts oil workers (not as news worthy as school girls) for ransom. MEND tactics are often piratical raids on oil ships and government targets. MEND is an umbrella term for a variety of armed groups. Their goals seem to be the securing of the Niger Delta's rich oil supply. MEND has little connections with the Boko Haram that I have personally found. However some MEND factions declared war on Boko Haram, but violence between the groups is unlikely because they have different interests.
