Australian Aboriginal Warfare

This is quite a difficult subject to research about. Australian Aboriginal warfare blends domestic homicide and criminal feuds, due to the tribes tiny nature, along with most members of the tribe somehow related to one another. Some elements include mock battles, raids, and ambushes. Aboriginal men have been known to raid other tribes in order to abduct women for brides. They even occasionally raid settlers as the case of an unfortunate apprentice boy that was mistaken for a women and kidnapped by the Aboriginal tribesmen. He was released after the tribesmen released their mistake. However, women where not entirely helpless in the Aboriginal world as the case of a women abducting some little girl from a tribe that killed her husband. The women murdered the girl in revenge for the death of her husband. Another cause of violent conflict in most Aboriginal societies that Aboriginal tribesmen have been known to kill members that trespass on their territory. The victim's family then subject the perpetrators to revenge attacks. Conflicts among Aboriginal societies are often just as destructive among Western nations. One tribe lost 200/800 adult males to warfare in a 20 year period. One isolated tribe called the Kaiadilts were almost driven to extinction due to inter-tribal blood feuds over women. They lost c.50/120 in 30 years due to the feuds.
