This is a blog created to do the daunting task of covering virtually every topic of military history, along with other topics (mostly analyzing young adult series or criminal cases) that appear in the author's mind. I will also cover other academic topics occasionally.

Mediveal Norway Civil War
The Civil War in Medieval Norway started out as power struggle between rival chiefdoms eventually evolved into a war between 2 factions. The factions were the Baglars and the Birkebieners. This war is popular among Marxist historians because of its class struggle nature. The Baglers were generally the rich nobles, while the Birkebieners (the factions name came from that most faction members wore shoes made out of bark) were usually the poorer peasants that were lead by the deposed and mutilated Magnus the Blind. The war eventually ended after the Birkebieners rescued the infant Haakon (seen in this painting above), the suspected son of the Bikebiener leader from the Baglers. The baby was then made the King of Norway, thus ending the continuous wars in Norway. Other peace negotiations included the Bagler pretender rule over a 3rd of Norway without the title of King in 1209.
