2014 Libyan Civil War

After the fall of the Gaddafi regime, several militias started to fight amongst themselves. Three years after the last civil war, a former Gaddafi general Khalifa Hafter called on the Islamic GNC government to attack the Islamic militias. Hafter took it upon himself to attack the militias, and he launched what he titled "Operation Dignity". Elections in 2014 eventually created two rival governments in Libya. One government was the anti-Muslim government lead by Hafter and the Islamic GNC government that was defeated in the elections. Complications to this crisis was the fact that a variety of tribal militias often switch allegiances between the governments. Further complicating the conflict is that the Islamic government split between the hardcore jihadists and the more "moderate" Muslims. EVEN FURTHER complicating the crisis is that ISIS started to launch attacks in Libya and even capturing towns like Derna. So even in the most simplified terms, the 2nd Libyan Civil War is a 4 way war. Below is some photos of Libyan Dawn fighters (loyal to the GNC government)

in clashes with ISIS.
