Dangers of Photojournalism

Photojournalism is quite a dangerous occupation of journalism. Many Journalists have accounts of guns pointed at their heads by drugged up fighters. Several of them were killed while filming, like one Swedish reporter was killed while doing work in Somalia.
Here are some incidents that show the dangers of Photojournalism
1.One journalist in Afghanistan took a photo of some Arabic foreign fighters. The Arabs were enraged by the photos. They later tried to kill the journalist. The journalist was saved only by the local fighters that claimed that the journalist was a "guest".
2.A 22 year old female Dutch reporter while covering the Egyptian Riots was gang-raped by rioters.
3.One case in Somalia was when two female journalists were abducted by some warlord during the 1990s. They survived their ordinal.
4.One male reporter suffered several ordinals in Bosnia and Sierra Leone. The reporter was arrested by Serbian troops in Bosnia. They threatened to execute him, but the man survived due to the Serbian officers let him go. He also had a terrifying ordinal in Sierra Leone when a bunch of rebels that were high on drugs. The rebels wanted to castrate and disembowel him, but the man's bodyguard saved his life.
5.In Mexico, one female journalist tweeted anti cartel messages. The cartels later tweeted her corpse in retaliation.
6.32 Journalists were killed in a nasty clan feud in the Philippines. What had occurred is when some candidate that became a Mayor invited 37 Journalists to his certification. During the meeting, 100 supporters of a rival candidate came and abducted the Journalists and the wining candidate's supporters and family members. The abductors then killed all the hostages. Other victims besides the Journalists were the Mayor's wife and his two sisters, aides and lawyers, and some unlucky motorists that were mistaken for being part of the group.
7.In Sri Lanka, one Journalist got beaten up by street thugs hired by the government.

As in the cases mentioned above Photojournalism is quite hazardous. Up to 70 Journalists were killed in 2013 alone. Perhaps some of the things that fascinates us about their works are the dangers that they had to go thru to get such amazing photos.
