Ikhwan (1927-1930)

The Ikhwan were Wahhabist (same ideology by the later militant group ISIS) nomadic raiders that challenged the power of Iban Saud's kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Ikhwan raids were devastating with every male captive was put to death by having his throat cut open. Iban Saud's government was in dire trouble. The British RAF and Armored Car divisions aided government forces against the wild raiders. By a combination of pro-government tribes and British intervention saved Iban Saud from the Ikhwan. The Ikhwan movement eventually collapsed due to several costly defeats. Although this obscure movement failed, but as mentioned in a side note in the 1st sentence, later Wahhabist groups like the infamous militant group ISIL would continue to bring violence to the Middle East for years to come.
